Born in France in the early 60's, Claude grew up in Switzerland. He started to play the guitar at the age of 15 when he heard an instrumental version of "The house of the Rising Sun" coming through the neighbour's garage. He then studied classical guitar for a while but soon realised that his feeling was more for improvisation than written music; "as the music is a tool to express yourself...".
The opportunity to join a travelling band came in 1984, playing songs by Bob Dylan / Hendrix / Kinks / Muddy Waters all over Europe. In 1990 Claude moved to live in the south of France and started to play on his own writing songs and then released his first CD "Des jours gris" (Grey Days). After five years of playing in many venues, and having played with top musicians like saxophonist Steve Grossman (Miles Davis band) and drummer Charly Morgan (the drummer for Elton John and Gary Moore), he moved to the east of France. Claude first played in England in February 1998, then in June the CD "Bourbon Street" was recorded in the Portsmouth based recording studio "Bob Ross". Following the release of "Bourbon Street" he continually travelled between France and England, acting as support for Mike Sanchez, Wilko Johnson, Ben Andrews, Calvin Russel and Kent Duchaine,. due to his growing success and the appreciation from the British audience. |
